HARLEY DAVIDSON ROAD KING CLASSIC
I wish To buy the 2up touring bicycle plus my spouse plus I love the Harley Davidson Road King Classic. Many experienced bicycle riders state which the Harley has no energy to overtake found on the excellent technique riding 2up. I amtold which the Harley is superior for taking a ride to the cafe about Sauturday plus Sunday plus showing the bicycle off yet for severe 1000km 2up trips the Harley should be ruled out. I might really appreciate a guidance plus comments.
Answer by Dan H
The road King classic is a fairly comfortable bicycle plus Harley dependability has come up inside the last several years.
That mentioned, it is very woefully underpowered for the fat, incredibly 2 up, luggage full. (someplace about 60-70 HP). Yes it has torque, however, because a low revving bicycle, at high speeds we run from revs, gears plus torque for passing.
So, we go out plus invest 25 big about a bicycle plus instantly need to pony up 5 big more for engine modifications. Should you have the revenue, choose it.
Should you may stand not riding an ‘American Icon’, consider the Goldwing or any of many BMW bicycles, Yamaha FJR or perhaps a Kawasaki Concours. There are fluid cooled metric cruisers available which have the energy too. Or among the Yamaha air cooled twins? Or perhaps a Victory?

Dan H hit the nail found on the head. Not enough energy for two-up riding, even without cargo. The Harley Big Twins have admirable torque to move off from a stop, however, not much following which. On the highway, they’re tapped out. Torque is wonderful, however, you are able to just do thus much with 60 horsepower or thus.

Yeah, in the event you want the Harley for the sound, the “friends”, as well as the looks, the King is possibly their right touring platform. But that’s like Fred Flintstone touring about Dino.
Modern as much as the K series Beemer’s or the Gold Wing for endless touring found on the largely flat land plus extended highways here inside the USA. The RT Beemer is the preferred tourer inside Europe, as well as understand a limited details regarding touring mountains plus valley’s plus those small scenic roads off the primary drags. Triumph Sprint GT, Yamaha FJR, as well as the Zuke V-strom are amazing tourers moreover.
However the Kawi Concours hasn’t been called Touring Bike of the Year many instances for nothing! It’s got all of the poop you need, security, plus space to pack it inside. It just does it all quietly plus effectively, like a Japanese variation of the German bicycle without the excellent expense.
However it doesn’t go “potato potato potato”…

Aside from not having a fairing, Is there any other differences? Can a radio be installed on a Road King? What is the difference in price between the two of them? Thanks for you help in advance.
Answer by Biker for life
Just the body. The frame, motor, tranny, front end are all the same
Answer by vtwin_doc
The Road King and the Electra Glide both share the exact same chassis. The main difference is, as you said, the fairing and handlebars. You can add a radio to the Road King, but it looks stupid as hell with ugly mounting systems bolted to the handle bars, another way is to add on an after market fairing similar to the EG’s, but they are ugly with crappy sound systems. Also, by the time, you add the expenses invloved in purchasing, painting and installation, you would be better off just buying the EG.
The Harley Street Glide is also another option…it is a stripped down version of the EG without the TourPack or another way to describe it is an RK with an EG fairing.
HD also uses a TOP NOTCH Harmon Kardon stereo system that can be upgraded to include a cb/intercom system, satellite radio, and GPS system with simple plug-in modules from HD.
Price differences will vary….go to HD’s website and look at the MSRP’s and then go to a dealer and negoiate…HD’s sales are down due to the economy and they WILL do whatever they can to make the sale.
Also….ALL parts and accessories installed AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE will be covered under the factory 2 year warranty…installed after time of purchase…about 30-90 days. This is the time to add an air cleaner, exhaut and SCREAMIN EAGLE SUPER TUNER and dyno tuning….have it all done right from the start, add it to the financing and there will be no later out-of-pocket expense.
If you have any questions, email me through my profile.

The only difference is the fairing instead of the windshield. You can add as stereo to any bike, it is just more common in the full fairing or batwing fairing bikes. If you want a better option than either harley, Check out a real american motorcycle, a Victory. The cross country has a modern batwing and stereo, and the cross roads has a windshield. If you want a real mile eater, go for the victory vision. dont be another sheep
There are several “families” of Harleys. Sportster, Dyna, Softail, Touring and VRSC. Can anyone tell me how to tell them apart by looking at them?
I actually sell Harleys, I just wanted to see what kind of answers I would get.
Answer by Chris h
The differences are in the descriptions

Well from around 1903 they were dinosaurous ancient, then around 1933 they were dinosaurous knuckle, then around 1955 they were dinosaurous panhead, then around 1966 they were dinosaurous shovel, then in 1984 they were dinosaurous evolution, and in 1999 they introduced dinosaurous twin cam.
Actually they have only slightly improved since the almighty rode a dinosaur.
Answer by ninebadthings
There really isn’t a difference. They just keep making the same cake and redecorating it. Todays 883 sportster is the same 40 Hp as the 1930 900 knucklehead. Nothing really changes except the marketing of a modern day antique. They are all the same gutless overpriced fashion accessory marketed to people who know no better.
